Funding partners
There are three principal funding partners.
- Urban Splash and their developer partners will invest hundreds of millions of risk capital.
- Manchester Methodist Housing Association (MMHA) are on board and already looking after residents in Guest Street and Islington Square. MMHA are the preferred social housing landlord for New Islington.
- Manchester City Council will put in 13 Ha of their land.
The deal that has been struck allows each of the principal partners to share in the profits based upon the level of investment made. We all think that’s fair.
Urban Splash have given a commitment to invest in the area and also involve other development partners. Manchester Methodist are already on board. Other private developers will be selected to work with Urban Splash by the key stakeholders.
That won’t prevent development from happening. We have enough money in place to start on site straight away, cleaning sites, building the new canal, converting the hospital, building on the land.
Urban Splash wants to work with the best developers, who want to work with the best architects, who want to work with the best developers.
