New Islington. Manchester's Millennium community.

Our ambition, our  dream

Each generation tries to improve on the last. Some attempts have been more successful than others, but the wise learn by their mistakes. We don't think we have all the answers but we have had a close look at some of the pitfalls of the past.

That isn't to say that we won't make mistakes, we are trying out new ideas because we are part of a new generation, trying to improve on the last.

But we do believe that this Millennium Community Initiative is a step forward - in the spirit of the game. We do believe that dreaming and ambition is all part of looking into the future and wrestling it into the present.

And we are grounded by the desire to deliver, because without delivery we will fail.

So we may not achieve everything we set out to do, but even 75% will be a result and will make a difference.

Well, 7 years on and we’re well into the delivery phase and part way into fulfilling our ambition, our dream and we’re pretty pleased with the way it’s going.

If you don’t want to believe our own hype then here’s some of the independent views about New Islington that’s appeared in the press.

We’ve also had enormous interest in the project from around the world, we’re regularly showing people round the site, from Europe and as far away as Taiwan.
